This aquatic invasive species training is hosted by Wild Rivers Conservancy and Burnett County. It includes an in-classroom training session followed by a group paddle. Boats, PFDs, paddles, and shuttles are provided.

Time: 9:00 am – 2:30 pm

Are you interested in protecting our rivers from aquatic invasive species? Join Project RED (Riverine Early Detectors) on July 17th. Volunteers like you are invaluable for early detection of aquatic invasive species.

Attend a free aquatic invasive species detector training and learn how to:

  • Identify aquatic invasive species in Wisconsin
  • Monitor for aquatic invasive species
  • Collect and report findings

What to expect: Participants will park at the Grantsburg Public Library for the presentation portion of the event. Participants will then drive to Highway 70 landing and park their cars there, where they will then be shuttled to Sandrock Cliffs Launch for the paddle portion of the event.

What to bring: bagged lunch, sun screen, hat, polarized sunglasses (if available), plenty of water,

How to dress: Clothing that correlates to weather conditions (layers are best), clothes for being outside in the sun (hat, long sleeves, shorts or pants), sandals/waterproof boots/waders if planning on wadding in the river (optional)
